Cowlicks...

I love my kid!! She cracks me up all the time!!

Most of the time, this Momma has "baby brain" and forgets to write down all the hilarious things she says! I wanted to share this little conversation before I forgot:

Several days ago, Abigail was inspecting Daddy's big buck that he had mounted from Kentucky. As you know by now, my child is very observant and doesn't ever miss a thing! She noticed some of the hair on the deer's neck was sticking out and asked her Daddy what that was. He explained to her that it was a cowlick. That answer seemed to satisfy her, and she moved on to something else.

This afternoon when we got home, Abigail climbed up on the couch and started checking out the deer. This is the conversation that followed:

Abigail: "Momma, lookit where that cow licked him!!"

Momma: "Oh, my goodness! What happened?"

Abigail: "That cow licked Daddy's deer!! Look, see it?!"

Momma: "I see it, Honey!"

Abigail: "Daddy spanked that cow!!"

Momma: "Yes, he did, honey."

I guess that's what the cow gets for licking Daddy's deer. You don't go licking our deer and get away with it. You've been warned.

A Day at the Zoo!!

Our little family had the best day yesterday!!

We had initially wanted to go camping at the lake, but it was gonna be a little too cool for that, so we had to change our plans. Instead we headed to the zoo in Alexandria--and what fun we had!!

We didn't tell Abigail where we were going, so all she knew was it was going to be "really special for me!" She was SO thrilled when we got out of the truck and told her where we were!

She wasn't sure why she couldn't actually catch the fish after she fed them...

This monster bird (some kind of "Screamer") was one of her favorites!

They talked for about 5 minutes and almost caused us to miss our train ride!

We had a fun time riding the train!

The man was so nice, he asked Abigail if she was taking her "big sister" to the zoo today!

Bless his senile little heart!

Abigail made a new friend at the zoo!

We bumped into Audrey and her family at a few exhibits, and the girls became instant friends!

Audrey would take her hand and show her the animals and they would just "oooh" and "aaah" about everything they saw! It was so sweet watching them! My baby girl is growing up!! :(

What a fun day we had!! It was not a pretty sight when we were leaving--Abigail would have stayed there forever if we would've let her! Looks like we'll be heading back soon!!

Feeling Better!

My sweet girl is feeling a little better--FINALLY!!!

Just about the time she got over the lovely sinus infection, her allergies decided to kick into high gear! Poor thing was sneezing and wheezing all day yesterday and today.

Hopefully her allergy meds will kick in soon and knock it out...

In the meantime, she enjoyed having some quality time with her MyMy while she was home for a few days. She sure does miss MyMy when she's at school...:(

WAIT---I changed my mind!!

She was all into throwing the ball, but not so much into actually catching it.

She spent today with her MeMe, and apparently the two of them had fun!

Abigail came home with a manicure, her pants were on backwards, and she's currently yelling at the TV, "I'm a Nanny Goat!"

Never a dull moment around here...:)

Sisters

As most of you know by now, my sweet girl is going to have a sweet little sister in a few more months!! I'm a little over 20 weeks right now, which means we're over halfway there!!

I think that a lot of people were sort of expecting/hoping that we'd be getting a little boy this time. I didn't really have any strong inklings one way or another, but I felt like Justin really wanted a boy. ('Cause all men do, right?!) He kept telling me we were having another girl, but I kinda hoped, mostly for his sake, that it would be a boy...

Not so much.

And the more I've thought about it, the better I like it!!

I'm so glad that Abigail will have a sister to grow up with, play with, confide in, and teach things to. She is going to be the best big sister!!

I don't know what in the world I'd do without my sister, and I'm so pleased that Abigail will have that same person in her life. I can't think of anything sweeter than sisters!

On a funny note, we were talking about the reality of having two girls on the way home from the doctor a few weeks ago. Justin got kinda quiet and wondered aloud if we could make another girl as beautiful as Abigail. We just looked at each other and laughed, hoping we hadn't used up all of our "cute" on the first one!

(Surely not!)

So, at least for the time being, the carrying-on-of-the-Slaydon-family-name responsibility will fall to the last male Slaydon.
